KAS (Kerala Administrative Service)
Kerala Public Service Commission(PSC) conducts KAS examination to select candidates for Kerala Administrative Service which is the civil service of Kerala. Candidates who pass this exam are appointed as a second-grade Gazetted officer in various departments in Kerala. KAS exam syllabus, eligibility criteria, streams of appointment etc are discussed below.
Categories/Streams
There are 4 streams of appointment/categories of KAS officers. They are,
KAS officers will be posted on 29 departments of Government of Kerala which include public administration, finance etc.
Age Limit
1. Direct recruitment of Stream 1: To apply for this stream, one must not have completed 32 years of age on 1st January of the year in which application for the appointment is invited. Lower age limit will be 21 years.
2. Direct recruitment of Stream2: This recruitment is for permanent employees or employees on probation in any Government departments. To apply for this, one must not have completed 40 years of age on 1st January of the year in which application for the appointment is invited.
3. By transfer appointment for candidates who are currently holding first gazetted posts in Government departments and must not have completed 50 years of age on 1st January of the year in which application for the appointment is invited.
Age Relaxation: 3 Years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST
Educational Qualification: Bachelor Degree in any subject from a University recognized by UGC or Government of Kerala

Bachelor Degree awarded by National Institutes established by Government of India
